Camera Obscura live in Auckland

Camera Obscura live at Monte Cristo Room 18/01/2010
With support from Family Cactus(who I missed) and English duo 'Slow Club'
Slow Club are a duo from Sheffield(maybe even a couple i dunno)who are Rebecca Taylor on drums and Charles Watson on guitar playing thrashy pop, rock, folky styles with a bit of humorous banter thrown in.I was glad I made it to see them, check their music out somewhere if you aint heard them yet, they're awesome.
Camera Obscura came on a little later,Monte Cristo was packed and eveyone seemed quite ready and buzzed. The six piece band played for about an hour, fulled their set with lots of moody yet soulful and upbeat 50s styles of music.Hard to explain really but the lead vocalist Traceyanne Campbells vocals were well beautiful.I don't know why but I started to get a wee bored(just a little),I think I was hangin out for French Navy which is their big hit song.
The band is very tight and they all know exactly what they;re doing.
So really to sum it up I actually enjoyed Slow Club more but Camera Obscura's Frnch Navy was also a highlight.
