Animal Collective 08/12/09

Played at the good old Powerstation which is usually a great place to see bands, but not in this case as much.I spose i was lucky enough to see them at the Kings Arms last time.I always prefer a more intimate setting. The sound was alright though, big and full but did get lost a little into the abyss of the Powerstation.
What i do love about Animal Collective is the way they jam out for 10mins or so for 1 song and they're stage show has moved up a few notches with some simple but awesome lighting and a nice big painted backdrop(check out the photos).
So yeah, pretty good but not as good as the Kings Arms gig, that's all.Check out the 2 vids, thanx.
Oh yeah and Bachelorette played support. She was great, good to see her perform solo which i actually prefer, even though her band is good(especially Pikelet) she just seems to pull it off better by herself.Good stage lights and projection stuff to.

B Street 19/12/09

B Street was put on by 95BFM where they took over 4 bars ai Britomart in the evening and the lawn during the day with free bands and DJs in all venues.
Quite a good way to spend a Saturday really, watching a few bands on the lawn at Britomart. We only caught a few bands though(We spent a bit of time playing hacky sack outside the Vecta watchimg the Green Day crowd, good times),one of them being Thorazine Shuffle.I've seen these guys in the past and they weren't really my thing so i thought I'd give them another go and yeah well,still...
I put a vid of them anyway if your keen to have a look.
All in all a good day in the sun with some good friends and some good entertainment.
So come the night we spent the rest of the time at Northern Steamship, missed Peace War but caught the rest of the bands which were: Rackets,Popstrangers,Naked and Famous and An Emerald City.
2nd time I've seen Popstrangers and i still enjoy them heaps,i think they're gonna go far-ish.
Naked and Famous were good to,pretty tight and An Emerald City were they're usual awesomeness.
Not much of review eh? Guess i was just tobusy having a good night and the bands just topped it off and also it wasn't that busy, not like the last B Street.
So check out the vids and photos, they're in order of the night.
Thank you and Merry chrusmus yall or mere kirihimete.

Why? live at the Bacco Room 17/12/09

Shit there'e so much happening at the moment, hard to keep up with all the bands coming over but still managed to catch these guys which I'm quite thankful of.
Didn't know what to expect, thought they might be either really poppy or they might just go hard and get into it.They were a bit of both, really good actually.I liked the drummer playing a big xylophone and drummin at the same time oh and well everyone in the band was bloody good at what they were doin.A little hint of TMBG.
And as for the support band Signer, they were wikud,i had a good little boogie to them, kind of band I'd rather see at an outdoor party somewhere.Check out there video as well as the Why? one.

MONO from Japan live at The Bacco Room

Ahh yeah WOW! what  a line-up,Soro Shima,Karetta then Mono. All in the same genre i spose which was fine by me.Noise, noise, noise and more noise.
I fully blissed out to Mono, dunno what to say but Fuck'n Awesome! Well said.
Just watch the vid and make up your own mind(it was a bit louder there).
Also there was a venue change which luckily by chance i found out that day.

Crocodiles...at The Bacco Room December 5th '09'

This was a good all round night with some good support bands,1995 and Popstrangers. Both were sweet as.As for Crocodiles, they were a bit different live to what I thought they would be,still bloody good just didn't expect the lead guy to be jumping around with only a mic for most of the night.I wanna say some comparisons but I'm not goin to so there.I'm sure you can do that yourself like Benny does in the live vid of Crocodiles.
So yeah a wikud night and thanx Damian for the name on the door,Tah much.
Check out the Video anyways and I'll put up a 1995 vid when i can.

Akron/Family-Kings Arms 15/12/09

Holy shits these guys from New York(well they're living in NY at the moment) blew me away. I've had "Set 'Em Wild,Set 'Em Free" for a little while and quite enjoy it but i must say seeing A/F live was 10 times better than listening to they're CD.
For over 2 hours they played non-stop blending 1 song into the next goin from flutes and rattles to folky harmony to wild rock'n moments then back again and into a psychedelic trance(shit i said i wasn't gonna get to descriptive in my writing's). A/K no how to please a crowd especially with a bit of crowd participation as well handing out a drum and gettin 2 kids up on stage to dance and wave a xmas table cloth around.
Each member was equal in the ability to play different instruments amazingly well and they're harmonies were beautiful.I would easily see A/K again and i suggest you go see them if you get a chance.
