Telepathe and Ponytail

Wow it's 2010 now so this will be my 1st post of the new year and so far it's already been a massive 1 and not even 3 weeks in.I'll start the year of with Telepathe the Ponytail ok,good, here goes....

Telepathe supported by Hairdos,January 4th at the Whammy bar.
1st up was The Hairdos,1st time I've seen them and well they're pretty good, wouldn't go out of my way to see them again but that's only cos there's so many bands to see these days.I think with a little bit more time they'll be tight as,still tho,a good band to have a jump around to.
Then after a bit of a wait Telepathe came on,I was looking forward to seeing these 2 girls cos i really like their music, very dreamy ya know(often play their music while nodding off) which i'm quite into. For a 2 piece band they can generate a lot of sound, probably something to do with their big set up as well. The sound was great, loved it,beautiful but.....they only played for about 45mins which is balls in my books and it's always too dark at Whammy.Good for the bands who are playing but sucky for us punters(especially for vids as you might see in the ones i put up ahem).
Oh yeah and they were pretty cute to,here's some pics and vids...........

TELEPATHE

and then...PONYTAIL...

This was the next night on the 5th and wasn't really too sure what to expect,I di know they were gonna be noisey and that's about it also i did hear they were awesome live soooo....yes they were awesome, bloody awesome actually. The lead singer had a very controlled scream and had a wide range of face pulling. The guitarist was sweet to,loud, tight and just fully into it.I wish i could remember more so i could tell ya but this is what happens when you leave your blog for a few months.
Oh and support by Brand New Math was ok,definitely a crowd pleazer.I've put up a vid of them, you can't see much but its quite good to watch peoples feet dancing around and the sounds good to.Oh and same for the Ponytail vid as well,it's dark but sounz good.

  1. Telepathe were great and I agree about the length of the set, would of been happy to hear much more, but there wasn't really more to hear, their album is.... (checking itunes) 42 minutes long. So they would of played everything haha. I'm def looking forward to hearing anything these two do. I love it all. Another thing about this gig was the presence of Pip Brown aka Ladyhawke! Did you notice? (oh and also Shanti from Shortland Street, haha) But that is a major sign of things to come I think... I'm always worried when crowds arn't so dancey, which I feel this crowd may not of been. But they gotta know they were appreciated and I really hope they come back soon! Would of followed them to Wellington if I could of!

Thanks for the photos and video! My own camera died just before I got to Whammy!
